Politikens Forlag – Fiction
“In 2004, Danish non-fiction publisher Politikens Forlag expanded into fiction, and I was commissioned to develop the visual identity and lead the design direction for their new line of books. This project involved creating a cohesive design framework, addressing everything from content layout and typography to a variety of book formats, with a particular focus on their signature hardcover editions (excluding individual dust jackets).”

While cover designers are given creative freedom for each individual dust jacket, the hardcovers are all bound in uncoated paper in black or muted tones, with the author and title debossed in metallic foil on both the front and spine. Inside, the endpapers are carefully selected to complement the dust jacket, drawing inspiration from its color palette.

“For the first season, I also designed the dust jackets for the hardcover books, along with several other fiction titles from Politikens Forlag, including John Updike’s Terrorist.”
